Compared to similar Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure instances, a Google Cloud n2-standard-16 instance needed less time to complete several common productivity tasks.

It’s not uncommon for cloud service providers (CSPs) to offer similar third-party integrations. For virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solutions, Google Cloud, AWS, and Microsoft Azure all offer Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. Choosing the right instance can make a difference for users running productivity applications, such as Microsoft Word, with the Citrix service.

Principled Technologies (PT) recently found that although the Citrix offering is similar for those three CSPs, a Google Cloud n2-standard-16 instance saved time completing several productivity tasks compared to Amazon Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) m5n.4xlarge and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Standard_D16s_v4 instances.

The PT report states, “With each instance supporting 36 VDI users, the Google Cloud n2-standard-16 instance offered faster application response times in six productivity apps than either the Amazon EC2 m5n.4xlarge instance or the AVD Standard_D16s_v4 instance. Shorter, faster application response times help users do more work and stay productive.”
